All about routers you need: Max-Stream AC2200 vs Nighthawk AC1750

Linksys Max-Stream AC2200 vs NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1750

Routers are beloved guests in any house now. Honestly, show me the person that can say he is all right without the Internet for more than a week. However, in order to be able to use the Internet literally everywhere in your house, you need a special device called a router. How to choose one that is best for you? Our today’s challenge NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1750 vs Linksys Max-Stream AC2200 will help you with this!

WiFi speed. Let’s agree that this is really annoying when you have to wait every 2 minutes for your favorite TV show to be downloaded further. That’s why I find this one of the most important when compare Nighthawk AC1750 versus Max-Stream AC2200. The first one has a WiFi speed of 1900 Mbps whereas Max-Stream AC2200 can offer you 1750 Mbps WiFi in your house, I would not call the difference critical, however, I personally vote for Nighthawk AC1750 here.

Encryption. Everyone wants to make sure that the data you enter on different websites stays protected whatever, so more protocols can router support – better the protection is. Linksys Max-Stream AC2200 or NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1750 — I would have chosen Linksys one if I were you. This is due to it having three protocols (WEP, WPA, WPA2) that make sure you to stay protected.

Data rates. Here there are no discussions; Netgear’s router with 1,200 Mbps/sec is way ahead of the competitor’s model.

LED indicators and Reset button. Why have I chosen it as important criteria? Sometimes the Internet just stops working and you are not sure if it is a provider or router has broken down. Here the LED indicators and Reset button are really helpful. If the LED is not showing the signal coming through, it means that the problem is on the different side. You can check it by pressing a reset button instead of plugging in and out. Unfortunately between NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1750 or Linksys Max-Stream AC2200, only Linksys model has these features.

Linksys Max-Stream AC2200 – real quality through time

Everyone has heard about Linksys by now. They do really cool long-lasting devices that you can be truly proud of as I doubt you will have any negative experience while using them. This model with its ESATA, 3 antennas and 256 MB of flash is no different.

Linksys Max-Stream AC2200 PROS:
  • 8 ports – this is extremely good if you have lots of devices to be connected.
  • Optional activity lights per-port on the front, so if you simply don’t want something blinking at nighttime you can turn them off for a while.
Linksys Max-Stream AC2200 CONS:
  • You cannot "see" the IP address of the router from the ISP router/model, I had to go to the website and do “Renew IP”.

Why choose NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1750

Netgear maybe not so well known as Linksys, however, the quality is no less. Nighthawk AC1750 has 265 RAM, extreme WiFi speed needed for gaming and QoS protection against lags.

NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1750 PROS:
  • The huge coverage area covers my 1600 square feet house easily.
  • Can hold up to 32 devices without any speed been lost.
NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1750 CONS:
  • The admin interface is quite slow to react, just stay calm and make some tea.
