Let’s have a look at ones that I find most important in order to get an answer which of these two is better: Linksys Max-Stream AC2200 or NETGEAR AC1200.
WiFi speed. There is no need to explain why it is important for everyone to have a fast internet. Here, I would choose Max-Stream with its speed up to 1900 Mbps whereas NetGear can go only up to 867 Mbps. However, if you just need to send a mail and you rarely play games, 867 Mbps is more than enough for you so you can choose this option.
Channels in quantity. If you have a big office with lots of other routers, you need to have lots of channels in order for the Internet signal not to be interrupted. In between NETGEAR AC1200 or Linksys Max-Stream AC2200, my choice here is Max-Stream AC2200 with its 16 channels. However, if you don’t have any other devices that may interrupt the signal and your usage area is not that big, 3 channels of NETGEAR AC1200 will be more than enough for you.
Data rates. Nobody wants to sit ages looking at the screen trying to send a mail. Therefore more data is transferred for the second, faster the action happens. Comparing NETGEAR AC1200 vs Linksys Max-Stream AC2200, NETGEAR offers you amazing 867 Mbps/sec. Don’t think that 400 Mbps/sec that Linksys’ model offers is not enough to send a letter, however, if you are a professional gamer or just want to watch films with no delays in HD, choose NETGEAR versus Linksys.
RAM. More RAM the router has, the more correct info it can pass forward. If there is no need to send many packages, NETGEAR AC1200 that offers 128 MB RAM is more than enough, however, if you watch Netflix a lot and want to stream, Max-Stream AC2200 with its 256 MB RAM is a must-have!
VPN support. Nowadays more resources are blocked, and there will be days when you will feel the real need to reach them. You can use something like Tor browser, however, if your router has a VPN support, there is no need for doing it this way. Luckily, both of these routers have this feature, so you can be sure you can use the Internet at full with both of them.
Firewall, NAT and a really small size that fits in any place make a Max-Stream a wonderful choice for any house. Honestly, who wants to put a large router with 3 antennas in their living room? Apart from size and weight, it has proved itself great as I managed to catch a signal through 2 doors!
Greatest data rate I have seen by the router so far! Apart from being able to watch films with no delays, it also has a USB port and only 2 antennas (better attract less attention to the router).
